It’s nearly Oscar time and we all know what that means… Fashion and movies. What’s better at this time of year?

Red carpets and stunning outfits that get us all ‘oohing’ and ‘aahing’ and then there’s the other outfits that get everyone talking, but for the wrong reasons!

We’ve all got our favourites, of course we do. The world would be a far boring place if we all liked the same things, right?

Who can forget the iconic dress Audrey Hepburn wore back in 1954? She set the bar that everyone has aspired to every year since.

Halle Berry did it back in 2002 with her embroidered but see through dress which most people include in their best ever list.

Cindy Crawford matched up her red dress with the red carpet in 1991 and we’re still talking about it.

Oh yeah, and she had Richard Gere in tow too!

Angelina Jolie’s ivory satin number is right up there as one of the best too along with Charlize Theron’s sparkly one, both making an appearance in 2004.

And what about Zendaya last year? Lots of love for her stunning flowing outfit that will be talked about for years to come.

But we know that there are always those outfits that just, didn’t, work…

Bjork’s swan dress in 2001 is up there. So are Demi Moore’s cycling shorts back in 1989 (yes, we’re still talking about them 30 years later!) and Lady Gaga’s red leather gloves in 2015. The less said
about Uma Thurman’s famous ‘milkmaid’ outfit in 2004 the better. And when it comes to the gents, there seems to be more on the bad list than the good list.

Armie Hammer smashed it (no pun intended) in 2018 with his perfect tux delivery but the less said about John Travolta turning up in his jeans in 2010, Robert Downey Jnr’s pirate inspired look in 1989 and Terrence Howard’s bathrobe in 2017.

We love our fashion and movies here at Princes Square. What better way to spend Oscar time in Glasgow than a visit to our amazing shops, including Karen Millen, Vivienne Westwood and Reiss,
and then a trip into the brilliant Everyman cinema right next to the courtyard.
