Combining breakfast and lunch, brunch originated in England in the late 19th Century – allegedly to help cure the dreaded Sunday morning hangover – but it was made fashionable by Hollywood A-listers in the 1930s and since then it’s become a trend loved by people across the world.
If we haven’t tried it for ourselves, we’ve all heard of the wonders of the Friday Brunch tradition in Dubai, and in China, dim sum is hugely popular between late morning and afternoon.
But we don’t need to travel to exotic places to indulge in the joys of brunch, Glasgow and right here in Princes Square there is plenty on offer whether you’re a die-hard eggs benedict fan, or prefer a Canadian style pancake dripping with gooey maple syrup.
And with the launch of NY America Grill’s new weekend brunch menu, the options are now even better than before.
Served between 10 am and 11.45 am every Saturday and Sunday, the American inspired menu is packed with delicious delights including; buttermilk pancakes with smoked bacon, maple syrup and fried eggs, waffles with berry compote and sweet cream, New York style toasted bagels, the breakfast burrito and for those looking for a hearty meal, a rump steak with two fried eggs and crispy fries. There will also be a kid’s version so the whole family can enjoy a mid-morning get together.
Danielle Fleming of NY American Grill told us why they’ve decided to launch a brunch menu: “This menu is designed to cater to shoppers who are in the city centre looking for some pre-shopping fuel. We’re experiencing such a demand for brunch and breakfast due to the increasing number of visitors to the city staying in nearby hotels and coming to Glasgow for big events at the Hydro. If it proves a success, we’ll hopefully roll it out every day during the festive break. We’re excited about offering customers an even bigger slice of New York’s eating habits.”
